Gurudwara Sahib Mata Bhag Kaur Ji , Amritsar |
Gurdwara Sahib Mata Bhag Kaur Ji is situated just opposite to Gurdwara Tambu Sahib, near Sri Darbar Sahib. When the forty sikhs returned home after disowning Guru Gobind Singh Ji as their Guru, they were condemned by all the people, including their women folk. Mai Bhago then induced them to seek forgiveness from the Guruji. She led them on this mission. However, at Muktsar, there was a fierce battle between the Sikhs and the Mughals. Mai Bhago was seriously injured but survived to serve Guru Ji for many years. A Manji Sahib was established at this place in the memory of Mai Bhago. The birthdays of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and shahidi purab of Guru Arjun Dev Ji are celebrated with great fervour here. Besides, the Magh Mela is organized on the 12th and 13th of January to commemorate the sacrifice of the Forty Muktas. Diwali and Baisakhi are also celebrated.
