GURDWARA SAHIB CENTRAL MAJHA DIWAN MALAYA,
KUALA LUMPUR
(No longer exists)
Around the early 1960’s, the Sikhs who were members of the Central Majha Diwan Malaya, built a Gurdwara Sahib in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. The exact location of this Gurdwara Sahib was at Number 25, Jalan Thamby Abdullah Satu, Brickfields, opposite the residence of the well-known cloth merchant, the late Sardar Ganda Singh.
Sardar Inder Singh was the Honorary Secretary of this Gurdwara Sahib for many years. Some of the active members of this Gurdwara Sahib were Sardar Hari Singh Village Vedala, Sardar Mangal Singh and Sardar Arjan Singh "Nal ua", a Police pensioner who was popularly known as Dato Seremban. Sardar Arjan Singh used to take care of all the Gurdwara Sahib’s kitchen utensils.
By the late 1970’s, hardly any religious functions were held in this Gurdwara. By this time, there were very few Sikhs left from the Central Majha Diwan to manage this Gurdwara Sahib.
In 1984, this Gurdwara Sahib was destroyed in a fire. The family of the late Sardar Ganda Singh managed to save the Sikh Holy Book, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This Holy Book was later handed over to the Management Committee of the Gurdwara Sahib Central Workshops Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. The kitchen utensils of this Gurdwara Sahib were all donated to the Gurdwara Sahib Tanah Rata in the State of Pahang in 1985.
