The Sikh Coalition – www.sikhcoalition.org – Started as an effort to educate the greater North American community on Sikhs and Sikhism, the coalition seeks to safeguard the rights of all citizens as well as to promote the Sikh identity and communicates the collective interests of Sikhs to the community at large. The coalition serves as a resource for all organizations and individuals as well as a point of contact to Sikh people. In congruence with the reasons for its birth, The Sikh Coalition’s mission is to: Provide all citizens with the information and tools necessary for them to safeguard their fundamental rights as free citizens and make the most of the democratic process; Advocate cultural diversity and stand against racism while advocating social justice, equality for both sexes, and human rights for all peoples; Guide Sikh organizations and individuals to promote Sikh identity and deliver a strong, unified message to the world community reflecting the views of the Sikh community; Provide the collective Sikh organizations and individuals with skills and resources to add to this effort and engage those professionals necessary to help organize, coordinate and implement an effective and sustained Coalition effort.
